Philippine Passport Processing Time Now as Quick as 7 Days!

Good news to all those who are applying for a new Philippine passport, or renew their old one. The processing time while we wait for our passports to be released has gotten faster, as fast as 7 Working Days in Cebu!

In a statement by Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), they have announced that the processing time for DFA Consular offices outside Metro Manila has been reduced to 7 days instead of 10 days. This is so much faster and definitely a sign of progress. A tip for everyone to make sure you renew your passport 6 to 9 months before it expires to avoid disruption of travel plans!

DFA-Cebu Passport Processing Time Shortened to 7 Days

DFA in Cebu is located in Pacific Mall in Mandaue, and for many of us who go DIY (do it yourself), it is much more affordable compared to having a travel agency schedule an appointment for appearance. The faster waiting times would really help us get prepare our travel documents sooner.

Also, the Philippine passport is now valid for 10 years. Noticing these changes shows how the administration is prioritizing practical systems for the masses, Below is the photo from the DFA website sharing this announcement:

“We made a promise to the President and to our kababayan that we will work hard to give them fast, efficient, and secure passport services,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano said in a statement from New York where he is attending the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

“Shortening the length of time our kababayan would have to wait before they could receive their passports is part of that promise,” Secretary Cayetano said in announcing the new passport releasing schedules.

This surely a nice news for everyone applying for a new passport or even renewing their old one. We hope to have more good announcements like this in other government sectors.
