However, you should know that driving is not safe without proper guidelines and a license. To be able to get your own driver’s license, here are the documents you needed and some tips to help you out.
Documents Needed To Get Your Driver’s License
Be sure to obtain the following before going to the Land and Transportation Office (LTO).
- Medical certificate from accredited hospitals and clinics.
- If you’re here for the student permit, here are the additional requirements:
- 17 years old and above (for Filipinos), 18 years old and above living in the country for at least 1 year (for foreigners)
- Driver’s License application form
- Parent/Guardian’s consent if 18 years below with 1 valid ID of the parent or guardian.
- Birth certificated with authentication of the National Statistics Office (NSO).
- Passport with the entry date of not less than 1 month and visa (copy and original) for foreigners.
- If you’re here for a non-professional permit, here are the additional requirements:
- Driver’s license application
- Valid student permit for not less than 30 days
- Passport with the entry date of not less than 1 month and visa (copy and original) for foreigners.
- If you’re here for the professional permit, here are the additional requirements:
Driver’s license- Valid student permit for not less than 30 days or non-professional driver’s license not
- less than 6 months to 1 year.
- National Bureau of Investigation or Philippine National Police clearance
Passport with the entry date of not less than 1 month and visa (copy and original) for foreigners.

Application Process
- Go to the nearest LTO office.
Locations: Natalio B. Bacalso Ave in Cebu City, J. Center Mall A.S Fortuna in Cebu City, and M. Logarte Avenue, Subangdaku Mandaue. - Submit your filed out driver’s license application form.
- Let the personnel take your photo and signature.
- Pay the fee to the cashier.
- Take the written exam as a requirement.
- Take the practical driving test as a requirement.
- Pay the fee to the cashier.
- Wait for your name for the release of your driver’s license.
